It’s been an epic few days for Serena Williams who won her 22nd Grand Slam title at Wimbledon – her seventh victory at the All England Club on Saturday.

A smaller, but not less noted achievement was introducing the Duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex to Snapchat when she met them ahead of her semi-final match against Elena Vesnina.

And now the tennis ace has shared an unseen snap of the trio together on Facebook, including it in a collection of her favourite memories of the last two weeks.

‘I had so much fun this past two weeks,’ she told fans. ‘Winning my 22nd grand slam title is something I will forever cherish.

‘Although some part of me is thinking about this hectic summer that includes the Olympics and the US Open, I am going to take a deep breath to enjoy this historic moment.

‘Here are some pics from the past two weeks I want to share with you. Enjoy. Love you all.’

News of the Queen of the court’s meeting with royalty broke when Serena shared a video of the encounter on Snapchat.

The 34-year-old was seen placing her arm around Kate’s waist and smiling for the camera.

‘OK so I’m in the “in crowd” now,’ she said, as she poses with the smiling Duchess. ‘I’m with royalty.’

However, there was an extra surprise in store as Kate, 34, turns to one side to gesture at an unseen figure to join them.

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 50, then dashed into the shot and cuddled up to the Duchess in the refreshingly candid footage.

Speaking after her match, Serena said: ‘It was really nice to meet with them (the Duchess and Countess). I actually didn’t know they were both here.

‘It was really cool, we just had a chat about the matches. I was surprised – it was a good thing that I did not see that they were there, maybe I would have gotten a little nervous. But yeah, it was really cool.’

Although she shared the video with fans, this is the first photo to emerge of the world’s number one female tennis player with the royal pair.

After Saturday’s victory, Williams warned her rivals she is hungrier than ever to win more Grand Slam titles after beating Angelique Kerber to be crowned Wimbledon champion again.

Williams’ victory on Centre Court means she moves level with Steffi Graf’s Open-era record 22 major triumphs and just two short of Margaret Court’s all-time best 24.

The world No 1 arrived at SW19 with questions to answer after three successive disappointments at the US, Australian and French Opens.

There was little sign of self-doubt, however, during another dominant display against Kerber and Williams insists her motivation to add more silverware to her collection remains as strong as ever.

‘I feel like when you’re great you are greedy because you want to keep going back to the table,’ Williams said.

‘You want to eat more and eat more and eat more. You don’t ever get enough.

‘Even in putting your career first you have to be really selfish and greedy, it is what it is, I come first and that’s what needs to be done in order for me to be the best.’
