FOOTY superstar Sonny Bill Williams has secretly married a stunning 20-year-old Muslim girl he met and fell in love with last year.
The 28-year-old Roosters heart-throb wed part-time model Alana Raffie in August after a six-month relationship. Immediate family and a handful of his closest friends, who were all sworn to secrecy, attended the wedding ceremony as he was preparing for last year’s NRL finals.
Even teammates from the Roosters’ grand final winning side were kept in the dark.
Not even the man he calls his “brother”, boxer Anthony Mundine, was at the wedding.
News that the NRL glamour boy is now officially taken will leave his legion of female admirers heartbroken. Such is his popularity that Roosters crowds and membership numbers have almost doubled in the two years since he joined the club.
Raffie is of South African descent and a former Westfield Sports High School student. She now shares a palatial four-storey home in Sydney’s south with SBW and his family.
SBW’s agent Khoder Nasser is one of a select few who attended the ceremony. Before meeting Raffie, Sonny Bill’s last high profile relationship was with New Zealand socialite Jaime Ridge, the daughter of former Manly Sea Eagles star Matthew Ridge.
Unlike traditional Muslim marriage celebrations, the ceremony was low key and strictly private. The couple knocked back the opportunity to earn a six-figure sum by selling the wedding to television and glossy magazines in Australia and New Zealand.
She attends all Roosters home games but normally watches from a private suite.
SBW withdrew from Friday night’s Kiwi Test team to play the Kangaroos to take an overseas break. He will be back on Wednesday for a global sponsorship announcement with Adidas.
The couple will move to New Zealand at the end of the season.
