Prince Charles has questioned whether his Duchy Originals beer brand was the cause of a man fainting while the royal delivered a speech at Brewers’ Hall in London

Prince Charles, Royality
The Prince was being made an Honorary Liveryman by the Brewers’ Company last week, during which a past master of the beer society collapsed. The Prince of Wales’ beer brand, Duchy Original, was being served at the event. Roddy Pryor, who headed the ancient company in 1980, fainted while he stood listening to the speech, cutting his eye and head. His fall interrupted the Prince’s speech and led to Charles to asking the audience: “Oh dear, is that the effects of Duchy beer?” A spokesperson for the Brewers’ Company told the Press Association that Mr Pryor’s fainting was caused by “the heat in the room”. The Prince used his speech to express his fear about the rate of closure of Britain’s pubs, which the Campaign for Real Ale says is around 27 per week. Charles said: “I’m so

The Duke of Cambridge was in Cardiff hosting a reception for injured rugby players and their families when he made the sweet comments about his family life. Talking about Princess Charlotte, Prince William said: '[She is] very sweet, but all fathers say "just you wait, when you get to nine, 10, 11 they go crazy." I'm looking forward to it, there will be some drama.' William also joked that Prince George, who started nursery this year, and Charlotte are already a handful. 'No broken bones yet, but they're trying,' he said. '[They're] running around, pushing things, jumping. Please tell me it gets easier.' The second in line to the throne flew to Wales for the reception from Norfolk, after working shifts as an ambulance pilot from Monday to Thursday. He told the BBC: 'I love my rugby....

Forget-me-nots and cornflowers – which traditionally flower in April, the month the monarch was born, and in June, the month of her official birthday, respectively – have been chosen to decorate the Royal Collection Trust pieces. We wanted to put out something that was a little bit different … something that was much more personal and delicate Hand finished in 22 carat gold, the range of English fine bone china was made in Stoke-on-Trent using traditional techniques. Among the items are a mug and a tankard which both feature the words of duty uttered by the Queen – then Princess Elizabeth – in 1947 in a radio broadcast from South Africa on her 21st birthday:
“I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service.” The Queen, who tu

Clean for the Queen has a better ring to it than ‘Scrub the streets, peasant’

Queen Elizabeth II, Royality
If it wasn't already clear that the age of deference is back, the 'Clean for the Queen"' campaign should drive that point home. Last week we learnt that Britain's fate in Europe will boil down to a personal spat between two Old Etonians. If this wasn't enough, you will soon be admonished to pick up litter on behalf of the most privileged family in Britain. Organised by Keep Britain Tidy, the Clean for the Queen campaign is calling on Britons to volunteer to handle garbage to mark Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday coming up in April. Tory politicians have kicked off the PR for the campaign, with Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Rory Stewart all posing in Parliament with Clean for the Queen t-shirts and litter-pickers. At the risk of being called a killjoy, I reserve the right to be grouchy a...
